A massive fire broke out near the Veer Surendra Sai (VSS) Airport today, threatening the adjacent Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL) depot. The blaze, which erupted in the surrounding forest area, has been raging for over four hours, with thick smoke and leaping flames moving dangerously close to the airport perimeter.
Five firefighting units are currently battling the inferno. Dry leaves and dense vegetation have acted as fuel, causing the fire to spread rapidly despite intense efforts. "The intensity is significant, but we expect to bring it under control shortly," a fire official stated.
While the exact cause remains unknown, authorities suspect the fire may have been intentionally ignited.
No damage to airport infrastructure or the fuel depot has been reported yet, but emergency teams remain on high alert to prevent a catastrophic escalation.
