Naveen Jindal, Chairman of Jindal Steel and Power (JSP), announced that the Angul Jindal Steel and Power Ltd (JSPL) plant will become the world's largest single-location steel plant. This ambitious goal is part of JSP's expansion plans, which include doubling the plant's capacity to 12 million tonnes within the year and further increasing it to 25 million tonnes over the next six years, with an investment of Rs 70,000 crores .
Jindal expressed his appreciation for Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Majhi's efforts in organizing the 'Utkarsh Odisha–Make in Odisha Conclave 2025', which has attracted investors from across the country and abroad. He believes this will lead to significant investments in Odisha, creating job opportunities for lakhs of youths and driving the state's development .
The Angul JSPL plant is already equipped with cutting-edge technology, including a coal gasification plant, and plans to integrate green technologies and hydrogen in the future. Jindal emphasized JSP's commitment to environmental responsibility through sustainable processes like green steel and coal gasification .
Additionally, JSP is exploring the development of a new steel plant in Keonjhar, aligned with the Chief Minister's vision for the region's growth. The company is also driving infrastructure growth in the state through the development of the Paradip Western Dock Port.
