In a major push for environmental protection and fuel conservation, the Odisha government is revamping its transport system by converting all OSRTC buses into electric vehicles (EVs).
To support this transition, the state is rapidly strengthening its charging infrastructure. Out of 100 approved EV charging stations, 30 are already complete, with 15 dedicated exclusively to Bhubaneswar.
Transport Minister Bibhuti Jena highlighted that both the Prime Minister and Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi are deeply committed to this green shift, which aims to slash pollution and fuel costs.
Leading by example, Chief Minister Majhi has already halved his official car quota, a move other ministers are set to follow. Minister Jena announced that he will personally switch to an EV immediately and is even ready to commute by public bus to champion the cause.
