Under the direct command of DGP Yogesh Bahadur Khurania, Odisha Police is intensifying ‘Operation Cyber Kabach’ to dismantle the backbone of digital fraud.
The state-wide crackdown has already resulted in the inspection of 32,932 mule (benami) bank accounts and the arrest of 331 accused individuals involved in laundering stolen funds.
The operation targets the complex web of fraudulent banking, registering 1,096 cases related to mule accounts and dozens more involving fake SIMs and ATM/cheque fraud.
Beyond arrests, legal notices have been issued to over 6,700 suspected account holders and facilitators. From the tribal belts of Koraput to the urban hubs of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack, district units are identifying "anonymous" accounts used to mask criminal identities.
DGP Khurania emphasized that this campaign will only gather momentum, aiming to make Odisha a cyber-crime-free zone. By choking the financial channels used by cyber-criminals, the police are sending a clear message: there is no hiding behind a benami account.
