Heavy rain played complete spoilsport in Bhubaneswar right as the Durga Puja festivities kicked off on Maha Shashthi. A sudden downpour brought daily life to a grinding halt, causing severe traffic congestion and slowed vehicular movement across major intersections.
Commuters faced major hurdles, with crowds stranded for hours, especially at Rasulgarh square. The sudden deluge disrupted thousands of devotees and shoppers who had stepped out to explore vibrant Puja pandals and bustling markets. Many were forced to seek roadside shelter as localized waterlogging worsened traffic snarls and transportation woes, deeply concerning organizers and local business owners.
Amidst these festive disruptions, the Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert for thunderstorm-accompanied rainfall across 10 districts, including Cuttack, Puri, Khordha, Nayagarh, and Ganjam, valid until 8:30 AM tomorrow.
If you are stepping out to witness the festive grandeur tonight, make sure to check live weather updates, carry proper rain gear, and stay safe while navigating through waterlogged streets!
