The Similipal National Park is home to 40 tigers, including 6 cubs, 17 tigresses, and 18 adult tigers, with notable individuals like Jinnat and Yamuna. According to PCCF Prem Kumar Jha, the park's tiger population has grown from 27 tigers and 8 cubs last year.

The aim is to increase the tiger population to 100 in the next 10 years. This growth is a positive sign for conservation efforts in the park.

The government has recently granted Similipal the status of a national park, which is expected to boost conservation efforts and tourism in the area. The park's natural beauty, including the Joranda and Berehipani waterfalls, and diverse wildlife make it a popular destination.

Similipal is considered one of the largest protected forests in the country, and its national park status is welcome news for the people of Mayurbhanj and the entire state.
