The ongoing cold wave in Odisha has been temporarily halted due to unseasonal rain, which is expected to continue in various parts of the state until December 21.
According to the Regional Meteorological Centre, a low-pressure system has formed in the southeast Bay of Bengal, leading to light to moderate rain in coastal Odisha, including the south and south-coast regions.
The rain has brought relief from the cold wave, with the minimum temperature increasing by 2-3 degrees Celsius in the last 24 hours. However, the unseasonal rain has become a concern for farmers, who are worried about damage to their crops.
Farmers are struggling to harvest ripe paddy from their fields, and the rain has made it difficult for them to dry their crops. Additionally, the rain has also damaged vegetables, causing significant losses for farmers.
The Regional Meteorological Centre has predicted that the weather will remain cloudy for the next five days, with light to moderate rain expected in some parts of the state.
