BJD leaders thrashed by locals for lack of development

Berhampur: Alleging absence of developmental activities, four BJD leaders were beaten up severely by the locals at Buguda block office in Ganjam district.

BJD’s block president, councilor and husband of Buguda block chairman and a worker was thrashed by some local people and students.

Sources said, locals of Golia panchayat came to the BDO for discussion over welfare activities in their village. The BJD workers prevented them from meeting the BDO that led to a scuffle ensued between two groups.

The local complainants beat the BJD leaders black and blue. They all were injured severely. They have been admitted to Padmapur health centre.

The irate mob also pelted stone at the block office.

On being informed, Bhanjanagar SDPO reached the spot and took stock of the situation. Two platoons of forces have been deployed to avoid any untoward incident.
