Bhubaneswar: Alleging conspiracy behind withdrawal of CII from 2018 summit of ‘Make In Odisha’ conclave, ruling Biju Janata Dal today raised finger at CII’s eastern region chairperson Jagi Mangat Panda suspecting her role behind the fresh development.
“Is not it done at the behest of CII’s eastern region chairperson Jagi Mangat Panda,” BJD spokesperson and Rajya Sabha MP Pratap Deb said at a press meet,
“It is widely suspected that there must be a well-planned conspiracy behind the move. Suspicion is raised further after CII Chairman (Odisha chapter) Arun Misra and its Vice Chairman Subrat Tripathy tendered their resignations. They might be pressurised to pull out CII from the conclave which might force them to resign,” Deb added.
The MP further said that the CII had shared proposed budget in January and draft conditions of partnership and a list of proposed coordinators for various committees in February. But how did it pull out of the event citing prior engagement during conclave time? Was it not aware about its prior engagements? Deb questioned.
Jagi Panda had earlier clarified that she had no role in the matter. She said she was neither aware of the development nor has anything to do with it. Odisha state council chairperson and vice-chairperson look after any issues in State, she had said.
In a letter to State Industries Department, CII had cited it had a packed schedule for the year and the dates scheduled for the Make in Odisha conclave which had been proposed to be held from November 11-15, clashed with a major national summit hosted by the industry body.
CII had partnered the Odisha government at the inaugural edition of ‘Make in Odisha’ conclave organised between November 30 and December 2, 2016.
