Bhubaneswar: Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan today alleged that Naveen Patnaik-led State government has utterly failed to implement the pension system for poor, downtrodden, divorcee and homeless women in Odisha. The State government which had earlier promised to provide social security to all is proved flop, he added.
The State’s promise to provide irrigation to 10 lakh hectare land is a big failure. If the BJD fulfil its demand between 2004 and 2014, around 95% land would get the irrigated.
The State government has claimed that it is providing water to the land through lift irrigation, but why electricity consumption in agriculture sector is less that 5 per cent, he asked.
The government showed the list of well and deep bore well of some farmers who have dug on their own, Pradhan added.
BJD has not fulfilled its promises made in the poll manifesto. Mostly, in agriculture sector, it has done nothing for the farmers.
Only eight cold storage units are working in the State while 20-22 others are private. They also staged protest due to government lack of government support.
The Government had promised to provide safe drinking water to every village, but in March, the women of at least 70 per cent villages are grappling with acute water shortage and are forced to collect water from polluted pits and ponds, Pradhan alleged. Till now, only 3% families are connected with piped water facilities, he pointed out.
