Farmers observe dawn-to-dusk bandh in Birmaharajpur

Sonepur: Normal life has been affect in Biramharajpur in Subarnapur district as Krushak Bikash Manch resorted to a 12-hour bandh from 6 am.

The Manch has called the bandh to press for implementation of their four point charter of demands.

Schools shops and other business establishments have remained closed. Vehicular movement has also been disrupted due to the bandh.

Adequate police personnel have been deployed to ensure that no law and order situation occurs during the bandh.

The farmers are observing the dawn-to-dusk shutdown demanding probe into irregularities in renovation works of Harihar Jor main canal and construction of a new canal on its left portion, revocation of water tax and provision of compensation for Chakada infestation in crops.

The protestors alleged that although they have brought the matter to the notice of the administration nothing tangible has happened as yet.
