Four kanwariyas mowed down by train in Rourkela

Rourkela: In a tragic incident, four kanwariyas were killed after being hit by train when they were walking on Brahmani river bridge near Panposh in Rourkela city. While bodies two of them were recovered, two others are yet to be traced.

The deceased have been identified as Nilesh Das, Lucky Das, Jamuna Das and Rambrish Das. They all had come from Chhattisgarh to pour holy water on lord Shiva at Vedvyas temple.

According to reports, seven Bolbam devotees of a family from Bhilai town of Chhattisgarh had come to Vedavyas temple on occasion of Sravan Sombar. The incident took place at around 11.30 PM while they were passing the river on the bridge.

Three others escaped the mishap narrowly.

In a separate incident, a kanwariya went missing while another devotee was rescued by fire officials from Mahanadi river in Tirtol area in Jagatsingpur dist.

Efforts are on to trace the missing devotee identified as Raj Kishore Das of Pipal Madhav village. The rescued devotee named Saroj Nath of the same area has been admitted to a local hospital.
