Four killed, 20 houses gutted in lightening strike in State

Bhubaneswar:   At least four persons were killed and as many as 12 houses were gutted in lightning strike during Nor’wester in separate places of the State on Sunday.

Bhima Mallick, a resident of  Deuli village under Balianta police limits lost his life in the lightening while he was taking bath in a pond near his village.  Likewise,  Ashok Raj of  Rajendra Nagar village under Banki police station, who was sleeping on his veranda was killed when the lightning struck  him.

Similarly,  Udhav Meher  of  Kutasingh village under Agalpur block in Balangir district lost his life in the lightening strike while a diploma student in  Haripir village under Jatani block also faced the similar fate.

Besides,  12 thatched houses were reduced to ashes  by the lightening strike, six houses each in Naragoda village under  Tamando police limits and Gedangara  village under Tangi block.

The lightening strike also damaged households electronics equipment at many places.
