Bhubaneswar: Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan today once again targeted Odisha government for mismanagement of cyclone ‘Titli’ and subsequent flood.
Through a video posted on his facebook, he said the government failed to make people aware about the cyclonic storm in most of the areas in Gajapati district. Most of the people are deprived of relief materials, he said. The ruling party is busy taking credit of achieving zero casualty. The fact is that bodies of many people are found even eight days after the calamity, Pradhan added.
The government is acting like a landlord, who compensates the deceased’s family by providing ex-gratia only. Those who are in a position should give up arrogant nature and work all together for the affected.
Andhra Pradesh chief minister Chandrababu Naidu has camped in Srikakulam district and is monitoring relief work personally. “It is unfortunate that I failed find a single minister or responsible officer supervising relief and restoration work in Gajapati district,” Pradhan said.
Reacting to Pradhan’s statement, BJD spokesperson Arun Sahoo said some people always want disaster so that they can get some issues to do politics. Those work like a landlord, they see a landlord attitude in everybody, Sahoo added.
