Men’s Hockey World Cup: Salman Khan, AR Rahman to perform in Cuttack today

Cuttack: Bollywood superstar Salman Khan and music maestro AR Rahman will participate in the second phase of the inaugural function of Odisha Hockey Men’s World Cup Celebrations 2018 in Cuttack today.

The programme will be held at the Barabati Stadium today evening.

Adequate police arrangements have been made in and around the Barabati Stadium and also in the city to ensure no untoward incident takes place during the show.

On Tuesday evening, the World Cup party kicked off with an extravagant opening ceremony at Kalinga Athletics Stadium, the venue of the mega event here. The show that went on for nearly three hours had everything from drones, dancers, fireworks. Then Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan and Madhuri Dixit rocked the stage.

Also present during the ceremony were Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik and International Hockey Federation (FIH) president Narinder Batra, apart from all the captains of the 16 participating teams across the globe.

All the 16 captains were brought on to the stage where they were joined by Shah Rukh. Madhuri too enthralled audience with her dancing.

In the end, it was Rahman’s turn to get the crowd rocking. With Shivamani by his side, he played one hit after another including ‘Dil Se Re’, ‘Choti Si Asha’, ‘Hamma Hamma’, ‘Vande Mataram’ and ‘Jai Ho’. He finally brought the curtains down with the theme song of the tournament ‘Jai Ho’ as fireworks lit up the sky.
