Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government finally woke from its slumber to streamline implementation of ‘KALIA’ scheme after report of black marketing of its forms poured in from across the State. Now, the government has declared the photocopy of the RED and Green forms can be used for the enrolment in the scheme. Agriculture secretary Sourav Garg informed this today.
Resentment was brewing among the farmers due to non-availability of forms. The matter has also sparked violence in several parts. Farmers said that the shortage of forms is artificial as the forms, which should be provided to the farmers free of cost, are being sold for Rs 5-10.
The distraught farmers staged demonstrations, road blockades and dharnas at different places of State. The farmers got irked as they failed to obtain the forms due to scarcity even after standing in long queue for hours.
