Cuttack: The Sri Sri University (SSU) here at Naraj is all set to start Odia Certification Course for the students and staff having domicile outside the State.
This was announced by Vice Chancellor (VC) Nand Lal during Utkal Dibasa celebration on the university campus. He said that most of the students have come from different States of the country. They will be taught Odia language in a bid to promote the rich tradition of the land especially the spiritual movements, literature and architecture, he added.
“The importance of mother tongue is fast diminishing. For this, the varsity celebrates ‘Matrubhasa Divas’ every year. Being situated in Odisha, the University is interested to promote Odia which is originated from Deba Bhasa Sanskrit”, he said through a statement.
The VC further maintained that the varsity is also keen on promoting the unique food and fabric of the land. A cultural and literary club known as ‘Dhabaleswar Sahitya Sanskrutika Asara’ is also dedicatedly working for the preservation and protection of Odia language, Lal pointed out.
