Sambalpur: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today inaugurated the newly-constructed 2.5 km long Sapne bridge which connects Rengali block in Sambalpur with Lakhanpur block in Jharsuguda running over the Ib river, a tributary of the Mahanadi.
The bridge which was a long-pending demand of the people of both the districts will reduce travel time considerably between the two places.
Sambalpur MP Nagendra Pradhan and local MLAs were also present on the occasion.
The bridge was constructed at a cost of Rs 177. 50 crore.
Before the inauguration, the Chief Minister attended 2nd Annual Convocation of IIM, Sambalpur at Sambalpur University and addressed the gathering. Later, he also laid the foundation stone of Rengali-Sapne by-pass road.
