Stormy start to budget session of Odisha Assembly

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Assembly today began on a stormy note as the members of BJP and Congress created heavy noise in the well of the House on the second day of the Budget session.

Soon after the House assembled for the day, Parliamentary Affairs minister Bikram Keshari Arukh moved a motion condoling the demise the former minister senior Congress leader Harihar Karan. The House also observed one minute silence in respect to the departed soul.

Both the opposition parties stormed into the well soon after the condolence motion and created ruckus, forcing the Speaker to adjourned the House for an hour.

BJP and Congress MLAs raised separate issues and stalled the proceedings. The Congress members demanded hike in paddy MSP and farm loan waiver while BJP legislators shouted in the well, accusing Naveen Patnaik in Odisha and Mamata Banerjee in West Bengal of being involved in mega chit fund scam. All BJP members wore gowns mentioning ‘Mamata+Naveen= chit fund looters. Is it wrong???”.
