The Temple City is bathed in lights as Bhubaneswar celebrates its 78th Foundation Day. From the Legislative Assembly to Lok Bhawan, the capital is decked in festive "Nabahu Besha," marking the anniversary of the day Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru laid its foundation stone in 1948.
Highlights of the Celebration:
Ceremonial Start: Speaker Surma Padhi commenced the festivities with a floral tribute at the PMG Square foundation plaque and a flag-hoisting ceremony.
Grand Parade: An impressive civilian parade marched from Rabindra Mandap to Jayadeva Bhawan.
Cultural Showcase: Jayadeva Bhawan is hosting a photo exhibition detailing the city's evolution, designed by architect Otto Königsberger.
The festivities continue at Utkal Mandap, where the "Rajdhani Gaurav Samman" will be conferred tonight, followed by vibrant Odia cultural performances.
The two-day extravaganza, concluding April 14, invites citizens to honor the history and bright future of one of India's first planned cities. Happy Foundation Day, Bhubaneswar!
