Senior BJP leader Manmohan Samal has filed his nomination as the sole candidate for the party's top post in Odisha, paving the way for his re-election as the State unit President. The nomination process was held at the BJP's state headquarters in Bhubaneswar, in the presence of central observers and Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi.
With no other contenders filing nominations, Samal's re-election appears imminent, and the election scheduled for July 8 is expected to be a formality.
Samal has previously served multiple terms as State President, including from 1999 to 2004 and again from March 2023.
Samal emphasized collective effort over individual achievement, saying, "I have always worked as an ordinary karyakarta. The party's decision is a recognition of collective effort, not individual achievement."
Senior leaders, including Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi and national observers, have endorsed Samal's nomination, citing his organizational acumen and deep connection with the cadre.
Impact of Samal's Leadership:
Samal's continued leadership is expected to bring stability and continuity as the BJP consolidates its governance and prepares for upcoming civic and national elections.
He played a pivotal role in steering the party to victory in the recent State Assembly elections, ending the BJD's 24-year reign and enabling the BJP to form its first-ever government in the state.
