In a significant move, the Odisha Electricity Regulatory Commission (OERC) has announced several consumer-friendly measures aimed at providing financial relief to electricity consumers in the state.


Key Benefits for Consumers:


- Exemption from Monthly Meter Rent: Consumers using smart meters with a connected load of up to 2 kilowatts will no longer have to pay the monthly meter rent, benefiting a large number of domestic consumers.

- Continuation of 4% Digital Payment Rebate: To promote digital transactions, the 4% rebate on electricity bills paid through digital payment methods will continue, encouraging cashless transactions and easing the payment process.

- No Increase in Electricity Tariff: In a big relief to consumers, OERC has decided not to increase the electricity tariff for the upcoming financial year, ensuring continued affordability of electricity for households and businesses.


Additional Incentives:


- E-Bill Rebate: Consumers opting for E-Bill will receive a rebate of Rs 10 per bill.

- Pre-Paid Meter Rebate: Consumers with pre-paid meters will get a 4% rebate on the pre-paid amount.

- Digital Payment Rebate for LT Domestic and Single Phase General Purpose Consumers: These consumers will continue to receive a 4% digital payment rebate.


These measures are expected to bring financial ease to consumers while promoting efficient power usage and digital payment adoption across Odisha.
