The Odisha government has announced plans to establish five new National Cadet Corps (NCC) girls' battalions in the state, aiming to empower young women and expand the footprint of NCC. The Higher Education Department has written to the Odisha NCC Director, proposing to increase the number of cadets from 63,000 to 90,000.

- New Battalions: Five new NCC girls' battalions will be set up as part of the state's NCC expansion plan.

- Increased Cadet Strength: The total strength of NCC cadets in the state will be increased to 90,000, with a focus on promoting discipline, leadership, and nation-building opportunities.

- Government Support: The state government will provide all necessary support for raising and maintaining the new battalions, including infrastructure, administrative requirements, manpower, and training logistics.

The proposal is expected to be implemented soon, with the Director of NCC Odisha requested to submit a comprehensive proposal, including:

- District-wise Deployment Plan: Details of district-wise or region-wise deployment.

- Infrastructure Requirements: Administrative and infrastructure needs.

- Manpower and Training Logistics: Requirements for manpower and training.

- Estimated Timeline: Projected timeline for implementation.
