Ratan Naval Tata, the celebrated Indian industrialist and former chairman of Tata Sons, passed away in Breach Candy Hospital in Mumbai on late Wednesday night.
He was 86 when he took his last breath.
“It is with a profound sense of loss that we bid farewell to Mr. Ratan Naval Tata, a truly uncommon leader whose immeasurable contributions have shaped not only the Tata Group but also the very fabric of our nation," Chairman N Chandrasekaran said in a statement.
Known for his visionary leadership and philanthropy, Tata left an indelible mark on Indian industry and society.
From salt-to-software, from education to healthcare his inititives have left a deep rooted mark that will benefit generations to come.
