A striped tiger wreaked havoc in Pandaripani village, located in the Dharambandha Bit Chulavat Panchayat of Nuapada district, on Monday night. The tiger attacked and killed a cow tied in a cage, leaving the local residents in a state of panic.

According to reports, Munchu Raut had secured his cow in cowshed near his home. Under the cover of darkness, a tiger entered the shed and attacked the cow. The family was awoken by the cow's distressing sounds. Upon seeing the tiger, the family members raised an alarm, prompting the tiger to flee into the nearby forest.


The family informed the Forest Department about the incident. However, allegations have been made that the department failed to reach the spot promptly after receiving the news. The tiger's attack has instilled fear among the local residents, who are now apprehensive about their safety.


This incident highlights the ongoing issue of human-wildlife conflict in the region. Residents are demanding increased vigilance and proactive measures from the Forest Department to prevent such incidents and ensure their safety.
