A routine maintenance operation turned fatal at the Shri Metallic factory in Angul district on Monday evening. Three workers—identified as Shridhar Begun (37), Mantu Kamar (37), and Mangala Majhi (40)—lost their lives in a sudden industrial accident.
The victims were rushed in critical condition to the Hindol Sub-district Hospital, where doctors tragically declared them brought dead.
In a notable lapse of communication, local law enforcement remained unaware of the incident until the hospital notified the Hindol police, who subsequently alerted the Nisha police station.
While the exact cause of the accident remains unknown, authorities have launched a formal investigation.
Police officials have reached the factory premises to determine if safety protocols were breached during the maintenance work. The incident has cast a grim shadow over industrial safety standards in the region as families mourn the sudden loss.
