Bhubaneswar: Newly-appointed Governor Ganeshi Lal today took oath at Raj Bhawan at 6.10pm. Chief Justice of Orisaa High Court administered the oath of office and secrecy to Lal after the guard of honour.
Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik and other dignitaries were present on the occasion. Lal became the 45th Governor of Odisha.
Before the oath taking ceremony, Lal visited Puri and had darshan of Lord Jagannath in the morning.
Bihar Governor Satyapal Mallick had been given the additional charge of Odisha after SC Jamir’s tenure completed.
The new Governor arrived here yesterday and was welcomed by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, deputy Speaker Sanand Marandi and other ministers, MLAs at the airport.
President Ram Nath Kovind on Friday had appointed him as the Governor of Odisha.
Lal who was long associated with the RSS and BJP, replaced Bihar Governor Satya Pal Malik who was having additional charge of Odisha since March 21 after Governor S.C. Jamir completed his tenure.
Lal, a BJP leader from Sirsa of Haryana is currently Chairman of BJP’s Disciplinary Committee.
