FM College Student's Condition Remains Critical: AIIMS Bhubaneswar Updates

The health condition of the Fakir Mohan College student who attempted to kill self by setting herself on fire due to alleged harassment by a professor remains stable but critical. According to Dr. Ashutosh Biswas, Director of AIIMS Bhubaneswar, the student's condition is precarious, with 90-95% burn injuries affecting her kidneys, respiratory tract, and lungs.


Medical Update:


- The student is undergoing dialysis and is on ventilator support in the ICU.

- An 8-member medical team is providing round-the-clock care, with specialists from critical care, surgery, nephrology, pulmonology, and anaesthesiology.

- The treatment is being carried out in consultation with experts from AIIMS Delhi through video conferencing.


Government Response:


- Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi visited the student at AIIMS Bhubaneswar and assured the family of justice and best medical care.

- A high-level committee has been formed to investigate the incident, and the government has suspended the college principal and the accused professor, Samir Kumar Sahu.

- The Crime Branch has launched a probe into the incident.


Family's Appeal:


- The victim's brother has appealed to everyone to stay above politics and wish his sister a speedy recovery.

- He has demanded action against those responsible for the incident, alleging that the investigation committee's report seemed to favor the accused professor.
