The Directorate of Secondary Education has released the official school holiday list for the 2026 academic year, bringing cheer to students. Excluding Sundays, schools will observe a total of 82 days of holiday next year.
The longest break is the 38-day summer vacation, scheduled from May 6th to June 17th. This period may be subject to extension based on prevailing heat conditions.
Major festival breaks include a 10-day holiday for Durga Puja (October 17th to 26th) and a 9-day break for Winter Vacation (December 23rd to 31st).
Notably, celebrations for national days like Netaji Jayanti, Republic Day, Utkal Day, Independence Day, Ganesh Puja, and Gandhi Jayanti will be held in schools, requiring student attendance on these dates.
Additionally, District Education Officers are authorized to grant 2 local holidays.
