Odisha's Food Supplies and Consumer Welfare Department has launched a massive state-wide crackdown on the illegal black marketing and hoarding of cooking gas, seizing 8,457 LPG cylinders across 3,838 locations.
The intensive raids led to 47 FIRs, 498 cases filed under the Essential Commodities (EC) Act, and the arrest of nine individuals. The operation targeted syndicates illegally diverting and selling subsidized domestic cylinders at inflated prices.
Authorities confirmed that this special enforcement drive will continue to protect genuine consumers and ensure transparent distribution. The department has vowed to maintain strict legal action against offenders.
