Tragedy struck a group of friends on Sunday when three youths from Cuttack's Talasahi area were swept away while bathing in the Mahanadi River in the Banki region.
The friends had initially visited the popular Ansupa Lake before heading to the Subarnapur Ghat in the afternoon to take a dip in the river. The leisure trip quickly turned into a crisis when all three were caught in the strong currents. While local interventions or quick responses succeeded in rescuing two of them, the third youth, identified as Amit Sahu, remains missing.
Upon receiving urgent alerts, personnel from the Dampada Fire Station rushed to the site and launched an intensive search and rescue operation in the river. Emergency crews are deploying specialized equipment and scouring the waters to locate the missing youth, while local administration monitors the developing situation closely.
