The Odisha government has initiated steps to create and fill 24 new teaching positions at Veer Surendra Sai University of Technology (VSSUT), Sambalpur, to bolster faculty strength in specialized engineering disciplines. The Higher Education Department has formally written to the university registrar regarding the creation of these posts for the B.Tech courses in Safety and Fire Engineering and Biomedical Engineering.
The recruitment drive will encompass 2 Professors, 6 Associate Professors, and 16 Assistant Professors to strengthen the academic infrastructure of these modern departments. This administrative action follows VSSUT's proposal to double the student intake for both programs from 30 to 60 seats, a growth trajectory that necessitates a proportionately expanded faculty.
In response, the State Government has directed the registrar to submit comprehensive data, robust justifications for the new positions, and a clear rationale behind the decision to expand student capacity. Further administrative approvals and recruitment procedures will proceed once the university provides the requested details.
