Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi has announced an assistance of ₹4 lakh from the Relief Fund (CMRF) for the family of Bishnu Patra, an auto driver killed in a collision with an ‘Aama Bus’ at Rupali Chack on Saturday. Expressing deep grief, the CM also wished a speedy recovery to a student injured in the mishap.

In response to the surge in transit accidents, the CM directed the Transport Department and management agency CRUT to implement urgent reforms. Beyond vehicle maintenance, Majhi emphasized a holistic approach to driver welfare, ordering mandatory training that covers technical skills, physical fitness, and mental health.

The state government aims to curb frequent accidents by ensuring drivers are both professionally skilled and psychologically prepared for the road. This move signals a zero-tolerance policy toward safety lapses in the state’s public transport network.
