A chilling murder has rocked the Swasthi Nagar area under Bhubaneswar's Airfield Police Station. Devaraj Sarangi, a retired official from the Accountant General’s office, allegedly hacked his wife, Priyambada Sarangi, to death with a sharp weapon, slitting her throat in their home.
The crime took a bizarre turn when the couple’s daughter revealed that her father had visited her in Patrapada earlier that morning to hand over gold ornaments and cash before the murder was discovered.
While the exact motive remains unclear, neighbors suggest Devaraj had been struggling with mental health issues for the past two years following his retirement.
Airfield Police, accompanied by a forensic scientific team, have cordoned off the scene and detained the accused husband for interrogation. The body has been sent for an autopsy.
