In a major win for medical education, the Odisha state government has announced a massive salary hike for contractual teachers in government Ayurvedic and Homeopathic Medical Colleges.
The Health and Family Welfare Department, with the Finance Department's approval, has effectively doubled the monthly remuneration across three key academic ranks:
Professors: Salary jumped from ₹50,000 to ₹1,00,000.
Readers: Pay increased from ₹40,000 to ₹80,000.
Lecturers: Monthly pay is now fixed at ₹70,000.
Health Minister Dr. Mukesh Mahaling thanked Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi for the decision, noting that this financial boost is designed to motivate educators and significantly strengthen the quality of AYUSH education across the state.
This move addresses long-standing demands and ensures that those training the next generation of alternative medicine practitioners are fairly compensated, paving the way for a more robust healthcare academic sector.
