In a significant move for administrative accountability, Reserve Inspector (RI) Govind Mahari has been transferred from Angul to the 9th IRB in Kalahandi following allegations of mental harassment.

The action, recommended by the Angul SP and authorized by the DG of Police, was confirmed by North Central IG Satyabrat Bhoi.

The case involves female Habildar Sumitra Biswal, who accused RI Mahari and writer Subhakant Sahu of systematic harassment. According to the complaint, the duo repeatedly denied her necessary leave and forced her to stand for hours in the office without work.

After initial complaints to higher authorities went unanswered, a desperate Sumitra resigned and staged a protest outside the SP’s office.

Following public outcry and mounting pressure, the department reversed its stance. While the RI faces a punitive transfer, the incident highlights the struggle for dignity in the workplace.

This swift administrative response aims to restore order and address the grievances of a frontline officer who refused to stay silent.
