Normal darshan (viewing) of Lord Jagannath was temporarily suspended at the Puri Srimandir on Friday after a devotee vomited near the inner wall near the Changada house.
According to tradition, any such incident requires the performance of a Mahasnan (Great Bath) to purify the deity and the sanctum. Following the ritual, the temple’s regular daily routines recommenced.
The Mahaprabhu took the ritual bath twice today, once during the morning Abakasha Niti and again for this emergency purification. The closure for the Mahasnan lasted approximately two hours, leading to a large queue of devotees outside the temple.
The administration swiftly implemented the purification ritual to ensure the sanctity of the shrine.
