The ongoing conflict between India and Pakistan has reached a boiling point following India's launch of Operation Sindoor, a military operation targeting terrorist infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. The operation was a response to the Pahalgam terror attack on April 22, which killed 26 civilians.

Operation Details

- Targets: Nine sites in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir were targeted, identified as training camps and logistical hubs associated with militant groups like Lashkar-e-Taiba and Jaish-e-Mohammed.

- Response: Pakistan condemned the strikes as a "blatant act of aggression" and a "serious violation of Pakistan's sovereignty". The country has taken diplomatic and military countermeasures, including summoning the Indian High Commissioner, engaging with international partners to build pressure against India, and suspending trade and diplomatic ties ¹.

Current Situation

- Drone Attacks: Pakistan has launched drone attacks on major Indian cities since Thursday, but Indian defense forces have successfully thwarted these attacks using the S-400 defense system.

- Air Defense: India claims to have destroyed over 100 Pakistani missiles in Gujarat, Rajasthan, and Jammu and Kashmir, while Pakistan asserts its air defense capabilities remain intact.

- Retaliation: India has launched a strong response, targeting major Pakistani cities like Lahore, Karachi, Sialkot, and Peshawar with missiles, reportedly destroying Lahore's air defense system and an AWACS air defense system.

International Response

- UN Involvement: Pakistan has reached out to the United Nations Security Council and Human Rights Council, accusing India of violating international norms and UN resolutions on Kashmir.

- Global Community: The international community remains cautious, urging restraint and diplomacy to resolve the conflict .
