Sonepur police busted a fake currency racket, arresting two individuals from Nayagarh and Jajpur districts. A black Scorpio vehicle and two mobile phones were seized. The police stopped the vehicle on suspicion while patrolling and found a red bag containing 1,695 fake ₹500 notes, totaling ₹8.47 lakh.
The accused revealed they were bringing the fake notes from Bargarh to sell in different areas. The police are investigating further to identify other involved parties. "The investigation is ongoing, and we'll take strict action against all involved," said a senior police officer.
The seized notes were found to be fake during inspection.
The police are working to uncover the network behind the fake currency trade.
