In a daring security lapse, a habitual offender has been arrested for burgling the Forest Park residence of senior IAS officer Bishnupad Sethi.

The accused, 35-year-old Ravindra "Gobra" Nayak, was apprehended by the Bhubaneswar Commissionerate Police after being identified through critical CCTV footage and his prior criminal record.

The theft occurred in the early hours of May 1, near the high-security zone of the Police Commissioner’s own residence. Nayak reportedly scaled the rear wall, decamping with a handbag, cash, gold earrings, and a diamond ring. While the suspect is in custody, police have recovered only a fraction of the stolen cash and are still searching for the jewelry.

This incident has sparked serious concerns regarding the efficacy of night patrolling in the capital’s most elite neighborhoods. If a senior official's home isn't safe, common citizens are left questioning their own security.

Police are now investigating potential accomplices to dismantle the gang behind this brazen act.
