The Hirakud reservoir authorities have opened 4 additional gates, bringing the total to 12, due to the rising water level caused by heavy rains in the upper reaches. Earlier, 8 gates were open, and the additional gates were opened to maintain the reservoir's water storage capacity.

- Heavy Rain Forecast: The state is expected to experience heavy rainfall until September 28, with another low-pressure system likely to form over the Bay of Bengal on September 25.
