Former MLA Mohammed Moquim has officially positioned his new party, the Odisha Janata Congress (OJC), as the primary alternative to the BJP. Speaking in Cuttack on the occasion of Eid, Moquim dismissed the BJD and Congress as weakened forces, declaring that his direct fight is now with the saffron party.
Expelled from Congress two months ago, Moquim clarified he no longer holds ties to his former party.
While addressing speculation regarding his daughter, MLA Sophia Firdous, he noted that sitting representatives must wait until their terms conclude before switching sides, hinting at her potential future move to OJC.
The party’s strength and membership will be formally unveiled on Utkal Day, which Moquim identified as a turning point.
With the upcoming municipal elections serving as a "yardstick" for the OJC's popularity, the leader emphasized that his organization will prioritize public welfare and grassroots protests. All eyes are now on Cuttack this April 1st to see who joins Moquim’s ranks.
