A low-pressure area has formed in the Bay of Bengal, prompting the India Meteorological Department to issue alerts for heavy to very heavy rainfall in various districts of Odisha. The state is expected to experience heavy rainfall until June 24.


Districts Under Orange Alert

- High-Risk Districts: Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Sundargarh, and Keonjhar have been put under an orange alert due to the likelihood of heavy to very heavy rainfall.

- Additional Districts: Mayurbhanj and Keonjhar districts are expected to experience very heavy rainfall on June 20, with thunderstorms and wind speeds of 30-40 km/h.

- Rainfall Duration: The rainfall is expected to continue until June 24, with some districts experiencing thunderstorms and strong winds.

- Sea Conditions: Fishermen have been advised not to venture into the sea until June 20 due to rough sea conditions.

- Temperature: Bhubaneswar is expected to experience temperatures ranging from 79°F to 91°F over the next few days, with high humidity and chances of precipitation ¹ ².

- Current Location: The low-pressure area is currently located in Gangetic West Bengal and adjoining areas.

- Movement Direction: It is likely to move towards Jharkhand in a northwesterly direction.
