On the occasion of India's 79th Independence Day, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi presented medals to police personnel for distinguished service and bravery at a function held at Lok Seva Bhawan.
Awardees and Medals
- President's Medal for Distinguished Service: Two personnel received this medal - Vigilance Superintendent Saroj Samal and Constable Satyabadi Malik.
- President's Medal for Bravery: Six personnel were awarded for bravery in anti-Maoist operations in Khaprakhol, Balangir. The awardees include:

- SOG Havildar Prithvi Sahu
- Havildar Umesh Munda
- SOG Commando Pitambar Satnami
- OSAP Commando Kavi Raut
- SOG Commando Sushant Sagar
- Medals for Distinguished Service: 11 personnel were awarded.
The awards recognize the contributions and bravery of police personnel in Odisha, aligning with national celebrations of Independence Day. A total of 1,090 personnel across India received Gallantry and Service Medals on Independence Day .
