A biting cold wave has paralyzed normal life across Odisha, with the Regional Meteorological Centre predicting an even sharper dip in temperatures. Over the next three to four days, mercury levels are expected to plummet by 2°C to 4°C, intensifying the winter chill across the state.

Dense fog has already severely impacted visibility, dropping to a mere 20 meters in Boudh yesterday. A Yellow Warning has been issued for today across ten districts, including Puri, Khordha, Cuttack, and Koraput. Similar alerts remain in place for January 7th in regions like Ganjam and Kandhamal.

While the grueling cold is expected to persist for the next 96 hours, experts suggest a slight relief after four days, with temperatures likely to rise by 2°C to 3°C. Until then, citizens are advised to take precautions against the dual threat of freezing winds and hazardous morning fog.
