Odisha is experiencing an unprecedented heat wave, with temperatures soaring to record highs in February. Weather experts predict that the mercury will continue to rise, making the nights warmer and the days scorching hot.
For the first time, the temperature has crossed 36°C in February, with Balangir recording a high of 36.7°C on Sunday. Other parts of the state, including Titilagarh (36°C), Parlakhemundi (35.8°C), Jharsuguda (35.6°C), Sambalpur (35.1°C), and Bhawanipatna (35°C), also witnessed high temperatures.
While the nights may still offer some respite for the next few days, the temperature is expected to rise further from February 5. Although there may be a slight dip in temperature on February 6, the overall trend indicates a steady increase in heat, with no return of cold weather.
The Meteorological Department has warned of a prolonged heat wave, advising residents to take necessary precautions to stay safe and cool.
