Odisha on High Alert: Flood Risk in Brahmani River, Heavy Rainfall Expected in Several Districts

The Brahmani River in Jajpur district's Jenapur is flowing at 65.10 feet, just 1.90 feet below the danger level of 67 feet. This has raised concerns about possible flooding in low-lying areas, particularly in Dharmashala, Rasulpur, and Bari blocks. The Rasulpur block administration is alerting people living along the riverbanks through postal machines.


Weather Alerts:


- Orange Warning: Issued for Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Sundargarh, Sambalpur, Jharsuguda, and Bargarh districts, with heavy to very heavy rainfall expected.

- Red Alert: Issued for several districts in Odisha, indicating heavy to very heavy rainfall.

- Yellow Alert: Issued for 15 districts, warning of thunderstorms and winds at speeds of 30-40 km/h.


Flood Preparedness:


- The State Flood Cell is working round-the-clock to monitor the situation.

- Senior engineers from the Department of Water Resources have been dispatched to Balasore to assist with on-ground flood management.

- Residents in vulnerable areas are urged to stay alert and follow official advisories.
