The Odisha state government will observe 'Zero Casualty Day' from November 16 to 30 to significantly reduce road accidents and deaths, prioritizing awareness and strict enforcement.

Minister of Commerce and Transport, Bibhuti Bhushan Jena, announced that the initiative will focus on the four 'E's: Enforcement, Engineering, Education, and Emergency Care.

Following a high-level meeting, a zero-tolerance policy has been adopted against road rule violators, with intensified inspection across the state. Teams will be deployed at crowded areas, and action will be taken against reckless drivers.

The drive also stresses correcting defects on accident-prone roads and mounting awareness campaigns in partnership with various organizations.

The Minister urged citizens to make road safety a collective responsibility to meet the Chief Minister's appeal to “Return Home Safely,” reinforcing that "even one death is too many."
