The Odisha Public Education Department has initiated a plan to fill teaching vacancies by reappointing retired teachers as guest teachers. A total of 6,387 retired teachers are expected to be appointed.

The education officers of the concerned districts will submit a report to the Secondary Education Council, detailing the schools with vacant teaching posts. The district collectors' approval is also required for the appointment process.

Retired teachers will be appointed in schools with vacancies during the current academic year. Once new teachers are appointed, the retired teachers will be relieved of their duties.

The reappointment of retired teachers aims to address the shortage of teachers in schools and ensure continuity of education for students.
