A 56-year-old man, Sudhakar Samal, from Tangisal village in Dhenkanal district's Hindola block, was killed in an elephant attack on Saturday morning. This incident has raised concerns about human-wildlife conflict in the area.
According to sources, Sudhakar went to his field on Friday morning but did not return home by evening. His dismembered body was found in the field on Saturday morning, with elephant footprints nearby.
The presence of elephant footprints and the nature of the injuries suggest that Sudhakar died in an elephant attack.
The incident has created fear and terror among the locals, who are dissatisfied with the increasing frequency of elephant attacks in the area.
This is not an isolated incident, as three people were killed in an elephant attack in the same forest area just a few days ago.
Forest officials have started an investigation into the incident to determine the circumstances surrounding the attack.
